Child-Centered Divorce Coaching, LLC
Helping divorcing parents create child-centered divorces,
not divorce-centered childhoods.
In Divorce, Conflict is Inevitable, but Combat is Optional
Divorce Coaching Grounded in
Alternative Dispute Resolution
The research is clear that divorce itself is not what is damaging to children. Rather, it is ongoing conflict between parents that causes lasting harm.
At Child-Centered Divorce Coaching, we support our clients during the divorce process in managing conflict, reducing legal fees, getting to agreement more quickly, minimizing the emotional impact of divorce on children and establishing a solid foundation for successful co-parenting moving forward.
We use alternative dispute resolution tools and techniques to empower our clients to know their values, understand their communication patterns and conflict styles, and make informed, intentional decisions that reduce the emotional and financial damage of divorce.
Because, while you may no longer be a couple,
you are still and will always be a family.

Our Services

Discernment Coaching
Should I Stay or Should I Go?
Deciding whether to move forward with divorce is one of life's biggest and most painful decisions. We can work with you to ensure your decision to stay or go is fully informed after examining all aspects of this decision, and ensure your decision is in alignment with your values and your vision for your future and your children's future. If you decide to pursue divorce, we will help you follow best practices in communicating your decision to your spouse.

General Divorce Coaching
Alternative Dispute Resolution
We will work together so you understand the processes and financial aspects of divorce, follow best practices in telling your children, approach the financial disclosure requirements in an organized way, develop legal strategies, parenting-plan proposals and financial settlement proposals. We will strategize to minimize conflict throughout, and transition your relationship from spouses to co-parents with a child-centered approach.
Gray Divorce Coaching
Navigating the Unique Challenges of Later-in-Life Divorce

Divorce over 50 presents unique legal, financial, emotional and familial challenges. We can help in your consideration of spousal support, dividing retirement and investment accounts, healthcare, insurance and estate planning as well as housing transitions and downsizing, and strategize to present your interests in negotiation and mediation. We can help you navigate social adjustments and familial complications -- as adult children are often profoundly affected by their parents' divorce and are particularly susceptible to feeling the need to choose sides. We can help you reduce conflict with your spouse and stay connected to your children and grandchildren.

Pre-Mediation Coaching
Preparation and Confidence
Through our work together you will have a complete understanding of the mediation process and what to expect during the mediation. We will construct a proposal of what you want, and develop different settlement proposals and scenarios. I will coach you in negotiating and advocating for yourself as well as developing and practicing self-regulation exercises and strategies for when conflict arises and emotions want to run the show.

Co-Parenting Coaching
Boundaries and Cooperation
Whether it's helping to craft a workable Parenting Plan, revising a Parenting Plan as children mature or circumstances change, improving co-parenting communication and transitions, introducing new partners or blending families, we can help.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is divorce coaching?
Divorce coaching is an alternative dispute resolution process recognized by the American Bar Association and the Association for Conflict Resolution. The ABA defines it as follows: "Divorce coaching is a flexible, goal-oriented process designed to support, motivate, and guide people going through divorce to help them make the best possible decisions for their future based on their particular interests, needs and concerns."
When is the best time to hire a divorce coach?
The very best time to begin working with a divorce coach is when you are considering divorce or have decided to divorce but are not sure of the next best steps. A divorce coach can help you make decisions that set the stage for a cooperative, amicable divorce process that will save you time, money and protect your children from unnecessary conflict.
Can I work with you if I've hired an attorney?
Yes. we work with clients who have attorneys and clients who do not. One of the benefits of having a divorce coach while you are represented by an attorney is that the coach can help you use your attorney's time as strategically and efficiently as possible to ensure legal fees are wisely spent.
Is divorce coaching therapy?
No. Divorce coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented. A helpful metaphor for envisioning the distinction is if a client showed up to a therapist's office with a suitcase, the therapist would say, "let's see what's inside," while a divorce coach would say, "where are we going?"
Will you give me legal advice?
No. A divorce coach does not give legal advice, but provides essential education about divorce processes, communication styles and patterns, self-regulation and dispute resolution strategies. Also, a divorce coach helps
you efficiently identify the issues you want to discuss with your lawyer, if you choose to hire one, which will help you use your legal fees wisely.
